The Australian Animal designs in this collection grew from Julie’s love of the natural environment and took flight with the inspirational Bulurra aboriginal art fabrics. As a textile artist continually exploring new colors, textures and designs, Julie felt a harmonious link between the animals that have inhabited the Australian landscape for thousands of years and the artworks of the aboriginal people who shared the land.

The fabrics used in the eight patchwork projects in this book were designed by various aboriginal artists and made in Australia. They are faithful reproductions of the original artists’ work. The stories told in these paintings are based on thousands of years of tradition and culture. Julie is not aboriginal, but chose to use these fabrics over non authentic aboriginal look-alike fabrics out of respect for the artists.
